Dodds eyes double figures

Port Vale striker Louis Dodds is confident he will recapture his goalscoring form for the club in the upcoming season. The 23-year-old, who joined from Leicester in 2008, experienced a barren spell in front of goal last term. Having scored eight goals he only hit the back of the net once in his final 25 appearances. Despite the drought, which could be explained by the versatile forward sometimes having to play in midfield, Dodds is aiming to make the new season his most prolific and has set his sights on beating his top score of 10, which he totalled during the 2008/09 campaign. He told the Stoke Sentinel: "I'm not too concerned about my lack of goals at the end of last season. I'm always willing to take a shot so the goals will come in time. "But getting one or two in pre-season will certainly get my confidence up so hopefully I'll hit the ground running on the opening day of the new season at Bury." Dodds added: "I won't use playing in different positions as an excuse for not scoring because they are all similar to each other in the attacking sense. If I keep playing and stay focused there is no reason why I can't get 12 or 13 goals by not being so defensively minded."
