Port Vale forward Lewis Haldane has been hospitalised after being bitten by an insect during training. The 25-year-old, who signed a two-year contract with the club in May, is currently awaiting the results of blood tests. Vale manager Micky Adams told BBC Sport: "His ankle was a little bit puffy, we had it checked out and it gradually got worse." Haldane, who netted four times in 43 appearances for Adams' side last season, will now miss the Valiants friendly games against Harborough Town and Biddulph Vics.
