Haldane has not played competitively since Vale's 2-1 win over Lincoln at the start of December but is determined not to let a lack of first-team football hamper his form.
"I always wanted to come back to Vale. I had to go back to Rovers because I had been on loan at Vale for the full three months," Haldane told The Sentinel.
"In a way, the postponements have worked well for me because it means I haven't missed too many games here. But on the flip side, I haven't played a game for five-and-a-half weeks now, which is a long time considering we're in the middle of the season.
"I was delighted the club wanted me to come back and I had no hesitation in agreeing to re-sign for them. My aim is to be playing games and prove that the manager was right to bring me back. I want to help get Vale promoted and then try to sort out my long-term future."
