Vale wait on Dickinson
Port Vale will check on Carl Dickinson ahead of the visit of Preston.
Defender Dickinson missed the 2-1 victory over local rivals Crewe at Gresty Road on Saturday with an infected shin wound.
Gavin Tomlin may have put himself in the frame for a starting place after impressing from the bench on his return from injury against the Alex. Manager Micky Adams was pleased with the contribution of Tomlin who came on as a substitute on the left wing - his first appearance for 11 weeks having been sidelined with a fractured toe.
"Gavin did a great job, relieving a lot of pressure on that left-hand side," said Adams.
Preston have a pair of doubts for the trip.
The Lilywhites picked up a point in a 1-1 draw with Colchester at Deepdale on Saturday and injuries to captain John Welsh and defender Tom Clarke only added to boss Simon Grayson's frustration.
The duo sustained knocks in the closing stages, which forced them to be substituted, and the quick turnaround may work against them, although Grayson remains hopeful on their availability.
On-loan central midfielder Neil Kilkenny is set to retain his place in the starting line-up while striker Stuart Beavon completes a three-game suspension.
