Sinnott must now prepare his squad for life in League 2. He's optimistic though that he can bounce back after seeing a decent return in the last 10 games.
He said: "You have to take into context the quality of the opposition we were playing and if you look at the 16 we had out, there were some very young players.
"Southend have players approaching their peak, if not at their peak, and we are still learning.
"From a technical point of view we could have done better at times. But from the point of not wanting to wilt or buckle you can't fault that, especially with so many young players out there.
"We could have done better with the ball but you couldn't fault their application and desire. They obviously wanted to win it, but when the equaliser went in they didn't want to lose it either.
"I'm pleased with the last 10 games overall with four wins, four draws and two losses and if we replicate that next season we certainly won't be very far away."
