Trialist Ritchie Sutton has been offered a short-term deal by Port Vale and will travel with the squad on their trip to Ireland. The 24-year-old, who was released by Crewe three years ago, linked up with the Valiants recently and has impressed manager Micky Adams during pre-season training. Adams told the club's official website: "We have had a look at him and we think he has got a bit of potential. "We are looking to develop him over the next few months and take it from there." Meanwhile, Vale are hopeful that Lewis Haldane will be able to leave hospital on Monday. The forward suffered blood poisoning after being bitten on the ankle by an insect in training. Adams added: "We are led to believe he may be able to go home on Monday, but exactly what the situation is with his ankle right now I'm not too sure."
